The Caribbean of Europe – that’s how the island of Sardinia is known. The region in the north of the island was given the name “Smeralda” due to its emerald-like sea color. The region is known for its turquoise bays and many white sandy beaches.
Favorite places
Porto Cervo - the famous jet-set resort
The region around Porto Cervo was built in the 60’s by Aga Khan to an exclusive vacation region with many luxury hotels, which still attracts the annual international jet set.
The architecture of the buildings was well integrated into the environment of the region. The typical architecture of the houses fits wonderfully into the still surrounding natural landscape with its many jagged rocks.
Stella Maris Church - in Porto Cervo
Above the village sits this beautiful little church, which was built in the typical style of this region. From the church square you have a beautiful panoramic view of the marina of Cervo and the bay.
The bay of Cala di Volpe - Luxury hotel Hotel Cala di Volpe
The hotel was built in the typical style of the region and offers guests a spectacular view of the bay from the moment they enter the hotel lobby!
For me personally really one of the most beautiful hotels in the world!
The hotel has a very spacious pool area and a generous sunbathing lawn, which was built directly on the sea.
The hotel with its fantastic view over the bay Cala di Volpe seduces you to dream. Relaxation is guaranteed here!
Excursion to the island of La Maddalena
You can reach the island after a short drive (about 15 minutes by car ferry) from the port of Palau or you can charter a motorboat for a whole day. I would recommend chartering a small motorboat, as you get to see many other beautiful swimming bays on a day trip on the way to the island. It is generally worth exploring from the water, as there are so many small islands and bays to discover.
Restaurant - La Scogliera
One of the most beautiful restaurants, which is also best reached by boat, is the restaurant La Scogliera – you can have lunch there directly by the sea between the rocks. The restaurant is known for its fish and seafood, but also offers many delicious pasta dishes and other alternatives for “non-fish eaters”. The restaurant is also a beach club – a DJ plays cool sounds at lunchtime and creates a great atmosphere (not boisterous, but stylish).
Currently closed for renovation – all guests can look forward to a visit in summer 2025! Special Place, Special Location – it’s worth the wait!
San Pantaleo - a small artists' village in the hinterland
You should definitely visit this place if you are on vacation in the region. San Pantaleo is situated high up and is surrounded by the large granite rocks of the Gallura mountains. The village has a beautiful central square, on which stands a small church. In the place you can see some artisans.
Personal tip: A delicious aperitif spritz accompanied by a typical Sardinian cheese platter with honey is available directly in the square at Caffé Nina.
A noble boutique hotel in the heart of Paris: the hotel staff are very warm hosts. The hotel director personally greets and says goodbye to each guest and also inquires ...
My top 10 restaurant recommendations. Moments of pleasure - always different experiences... exclusive cuisine in Europe's metropolises, lunch at the beach, a romantic candlelight dinner by the lake or a fine cheese fondue in the mountains.
A lunch at the beach club, a cocktail party in the evening - definitely stylish & chic!
La Esplora has discovered for you a selection of elegant & summer outfits for the perfect summer day.
